Covid-19 second doses

1162 days ago

Hywel Dda University Health Board has started its delivery of second Covid-19 vaccine doses this week.

All staff who are eligible under Priority 1 and 2 should now have been contacted about an
appointment or will be contacted very shortly.

If you received your first vaccine during the week beginning December 7, the health board will also send a confirmatory text message.

You will be asked to attend the centre you attended for your first vaccine in order to manage the logistics of delivering second doses in sequence. If you had your first vaccination in Glangwili General Hospital, you will however be asked to attend an appointment in the Halliwell Centre in Carmarthen instead.

It is important to have both doses of the vaccine to give you the best longer-term protection. Please make every effort to attend the appointment provided.

Once you have received both vaccine doses, you must continue to follow the guidance in your workplace, including wearing the correct personal protection equipment, taking part in any screening programmes and follow current advice and guidance.

Whilst the vaccine will reduce your chance of becoming seriously ill, it is still not yet known whether it will stop you from catching and passing on the virus.

We are confident that we have identified all those staff groups that fall under the guidance, but if you believe you are eligible under Priority groups 1 and 2 and for some reason have been missed please do not contact the Health Board, but speak to your line manager in the first instance to establish eligibility. Your line manager should then contact Alex Williams and Rhys Page if they believe you are eligible and have been missed.
