International Fraud Awareness Week (November 17-23)
As a Council, we have a zero-tolerance stance to all forms of fraud, corruption and theft, both from within the Council and from external sources.
Fraud is not a victimless crime and can affect us all.
It has a monetary impact – costing the country billions of pounds a year and also affecting the amount of money we have available to spend on providing public services.
As well as the human cost – for example; someone who commits Council Housing Tenancy Fraud is reducing the number of available housing spaces and thereby depriving families and vulnerable people on the waiting list.
The Council’s Fraud Investigation Officer is professionally trained to conduct civil and criminal investigations relating to the prevention and detection of crime, prosecution of offenders and the recovery of the proceeds of crime. If you would like the Council’s Fraud Investigation Officer to raise fraud awareness within your team, please email fraud@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
If you suspect a person or company is committing fraud against the Council report it to fraud@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
