Join the movement to end violence against women and girls
1 day ago
As a Council we are supporting this year’s White Ribbon campaign, which starts on Monday, November 25 and continues for 16 Days of Action.
This year’s powerful theme "It Starts with Men” highlights the crucial role men play in preventing violence towards women and girls by promoting respect and equality within their communities.

While domestic abuse affects both sexes, the largest number of violent incidents involve men against women
What is the Council doing?
To show our support, we will fly the White Ribbon flag at County Hall, Carmarthen and Town Halls in Llanelli and Ammanford and light up County Hall on 25 November.
You will also see a White Ribbon campaign screensaver on your work laptop that asks you to make the promise “to never use, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women”.
You may also notice posters in our buildings and bus stations or video messages on the screens in our libraries, theatres, HWBs and leisure centres.
What can you do?
Make the Make the White Ribbon Promise: to never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women.
Become an Ally: Men can be active allies by learning, listening to and supporting women and girls.
Become an Ambassador or Champion: Make a real difference in your workplace and community, register to become a White Ribbon ambassador or champion. Carl Daniels, Senior Sport and Leisure Manager, has been a White Ribbon Ambassador for five years. He said: “White Ribbon Day is an essential campaign that brings to light the critical issue of violence against women and girls. As White Ribbon Ambassador, husband and father, I am committed to supporting this cause and promoting safe and inclusive environments for everyone in our community.”
Carmarthen Domestic Abuse Servies Ltd (CarmDas) is asking men and boys to join in with a short walk-through Carmarthen town on Monday, November 25 at 1.30pm starting from the Guildhall and ending at St Catherine's Walk, where refreshments will be served.
Everyone is welcome to the Carmarthenshire Business Hub for coffee, tea, and cake at the end of the walk. During this time there will also be a chance to view a 15-minute DocuDrama created and produced by members of Carmarthenshire Youth Council. ‘Never Silence The Violence’ will be officially launched by the Council’s Director or Education and Children, Owain Lloyd.
The Youth Council hope that the DocuDrama will be used by professionals to raise awareness to other young people that it’s ok to speak out and that it will reassure them that there is support available to them if they report any domestic abuse that they witness or experience.
Keep an eye out for next week’s newsletter, which will talk about the help, support and guidance we have available for all our staff.
