Coronavirus (COVID-19)

To ensure that we can support service areas placed under additional demand at this time, we have taken the decision to postpone all learning events that require staff attendance with immediate effect. This position will continue to be monitored based on the advice received from Government.

All our resources are now focused on supporting colleagues with any essential operational skills for critical services.

We will continue to communicate arrangements via our pages, and we encourage colleagues to take advantage of e-learning as part of any revised working arrangements they may be required to do. The application system for learning and development is temporarily unavailable for all new applications until further notice.

Work Welsh Residential Courses

Residential courses to build confidence and improve language skills

Work Welsh residential courses are aimed for learners at Intermediate – Proficiency level, and Welsh speakers who want to improve and develop Welsh language skills to use the language at work.

A large number of employers in Wales have already taken the opportunity to send their employers on the residential courses, and 94% of learners who attended the residential course during 2017-18 ‘agreed' or 'strongly agreed' that they had more confidence to use their Welsh in the workplace immediately after attending the course.

The five-day residential courses are held in four locations in Wales:

  • Nant Gwrtheyrn Residential Centre on the Llŷn Peninsula
  • Coed y Mwstwr Hotel in Bridgend
  • Llechwedd Hall Hotel near Pontypridd
  • Cardigan Castle

The residential courses offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a Welsh environment and include meals, accommodation and all learning resources.
