All Wales Induction Framework (AWIF)

Who is it aimed at?

All support workers across community settings in Health and Social Care for Adults and Children’s services. We welcome applications from anyone working, supporting others or wishing to work in all settings - Independent/Commissioned sectors, Local Authority providers, NHS Community and Primary care, Pre-employment and work experience, carers and volunteers.

What are the objectives?

An induction that aims to help workers:

  • Access first of its kind induction training linking Health & Social Care
  • Access practical activities; therefore, gaining skills applicable in work settings
  • Learn from a structured training which covers outcomes in the AWIF Workbooks
  • Achieving the Level 2 Health & Social Care Core qualification accredited by City & Guilds
  • Gaining a Clinical Health certificate awarded by Agored Wales
  • Understand a care worker role – what is required of them and what support they can expect
  • Know their working environment and the important information needed to do the job well
  • Be assigned a Mentor/Buddy who will be supported by the L&D team

How will it make a difference?

Using the skills and knowledge gained; staff will;

  • Be better equipped to start working in their sectors with valuable knowledge
  • Provide better and confident holistic person centred care to the individuals they support
  • Continue to gain more knowledge and skills following robust but accessible training

How to apply:

If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.

If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.

Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.


Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council but meet the eligibility criteria to attend this course should complete this application form.
