IPED - Image & Performance Enhancing Drugs

Who is it aimed at?

All staff working with youths and adults who are using or thinking of using Steroids and Image Enhancing Drugs. This can include all health and social care practitioners, housing, domestic abuse, police, employment, training, education and leisure facility providers, who would like more knowledge around the culture and practices of this particular group of users.

What are the objectives?

By the end of the course, learners should be able to:

  • Define what IPEDs are and the prevalence and trends in use
  • Explain how IPEDs work
  • Explore the motivations for using IPEDs
  • Analyse the different sources of IPEDs
  • Examine how IPEDs are used
  • Investigate the appropriate information, advice and intervention that can be used for safer use of IPEDs
  • Referral pathways into substance misuse services

How will it make a difference?

To raise awareness about steroids and image enhancing drugs, identity some of the issues associated with types of drugs use, with the emphasis on harm reduction for users.

How to apply:

If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.

If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.

Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.


Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council but meet the eligibility criteria to attend this course should complete this application form.
