Report Writing and Case Recording

Who is it aimed at?

Social work staff based in Community Resource Teams will be given priority but applications will also be accepted from social work staff based in other teams which offer services to adults.

What are the objectives?

The training aims to develop staff knowledge and skills in relation to producing effective case recordings and reports. It will specifically support staff to:

  • Write confidently as required by the Code of Practice for the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act
  • Write about capacity effectively using appropriate language from the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Write confidently about safeguarding and risk, using language that is meaningful for the risk management process.
  • Write professionally, concisely, accurately and clearly for the purposes of accountability.
  • Clearly articulate reasoning and decision making.

How will it make a difference?

The training will support participants to produce accurate and informative case recording and reports which meet legal requirements.

How to apply:

If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.

If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.

Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.


Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council cannot apply for this course.
