Workplace recycling is changing from April 6

IT’S only two days to go until the new workplace recycling law starts.

It means that from April 6, 2024, all businesses, charities and public sector organisations will need to sort their waste for recycling in the same way most households do now.

It is everyone’s responsibility to put the correct waste in the correctly labelled bin. Putting all your waste into a single bin will not be allowed - you must sort your waste out properly.

To ensure we comply with the new Welsh Government legislation, you will notice a change in bin locations and the removal of some waste and recycling bins.

We have replaced standalone bins across the workplace with designated recycling stations strategically placed throughout buildings, making it easier for you to dispose of your waste responsibly. Information posters at the previous bin locations will guide you to the new ‘recycling stations’.

All workplaces will have to separate the following materials for collection:

  • Food only for premises that produce more than 5kg of food waste a week
  • Paper and card
  • Glass
  • Metals, plastics and cartons

Failure to comply with the law could mean a fine.

If changes have not yet been made in your office by Monday, April 8, please contact; workplacerecycling@carmarthenshire.gov.uk. Kindly provide your office address so we can ensure that all necessary arrangements have been implemented.

More information on the changes and what can be placed in which bin can be found on the Workplace recycling pages
