Leanne McFarland - Alzheimer’s Society

Name: Leanne McFarland

Department: Communities

Charity: Alzheimer’s Society

What: St Illtyds Ultra Marathon (32mile multi terrain race)

When: 5th May 2024

Why: I was a befriender for Alzheimer's Society visiting a lady suffering with dementia for several years until she recently passed away from this cruel illness.  I saw first-hand how Dementia and Alzheimer's disease affects families.

So, I'm taking on my first Ultra Marathon to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society, they provide vital help and support to those living with dementia and their families. They also provide hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
