What Is Movember?

Movember is held every November to raise awareness of men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. Starting in Australia in 2003, it has become a global movement, encouraging men to grow moustaches to spark conversations and show support.

The Aims of Movember

·       Increase awareness of men’s health issues

·       Raise funds for research and support programmes

·       Promote healthier lifestyles and encourage seeking help

·       Reduce stigma by fostering open discussions

How Can We Support Movember?

·       Grow a Moustache: Take part by growing any style of moustache to raise awareness and start conversations.

·       Fundraising Events: Organise bake sales, quizzes, or sponsored challenges to raise money for the cause.

·       Start a Movember Team: Create a team with colleagues to collectively fundraise and track progress on the Movember website.

·       Move for Movember: Walk or run 60 kilometres during November, representing the 60 men lost to suicide globally every hour.

·       Share Information: Use newsletters, posters, and meetings to spread the message and encourage open dialogue about men’s health.

·       Support Each Other: Check in with colleagues, friends, and family. Sometimes, a simple conversation can make all the difference.

Let’s Make a Difference Together

Movember is about more than just moustaches—it’s about improving men’s health and supporting each other. If you are male and aged 50 or over, speak to your GP about a PSA test, even if you don’t have symptoms. The iGP service also offers PSA tests and testosterone consultations for men over 40 or those with symptoms, providing discreet, quick care at discounted rates for CCC staff.
