Workplace recycling, let’s get it sorted

A reminder that it is law in Wales to separate and recycle all your waste in the office.

During recent checks at Spilman Street, County Hall and Parc Myrddin, contamination has been found in several bins – including plastic in cardboard/paper bins and plastic wrappers in food bins.

Our waste contractor will reject an entire wheelie bin if any contamination is found, which creates unnecessary cost and disruption. This issue is occurring across multiple sites.

All bins are labelled, and waste must be separated into the following categories:

  • Cardboard & paper
  • Plastic containers, cartons and metals
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Food waste (no packaging)
  • Residual waste bins for all non-recyclable waste

If you are unsure what goes where, please refer to our staff A-Z of Recycling on our intranet. You can also download more detailed posters from the Wrap website: The Business of Recycling Wales Guidance for all workplaces

Your cooperation is essential to ensure we meet recycling standards and avoid rejected collections. Thank you for your support in keeping our sites compliant and sustainable.
