Celebrate St David’s Day – ‘Do the little things’
9 hours ago
As we approach St David’s Day, it is a time for us as a Council to come together to celebrate our heritage, culture, and what makes Wales unique.
The day reminds us of the importance of kindness, collaboration, and in keeping with our Patron Saint’s advice to ‘Do the little things/ Gwnewch y pethau bychain’, – which make a big difference in our work every day.
The Welsh language is key to the identity and culture of many of our communities, and many people can express their views and needs better in their first language. There are groups of Welsh speakers who genuinely need to receive services in their first language for those services to be effective. We have a duty to facilitate language choice for our service users. Remember that there are resources to help you in your day-to-day work through our Working bilingually page on the intranet.
To celebrate St David’s Day this year we are offering the chance for one lucky member of staff to win a hamper of produce from Carmarthenshire, including a Welsh Lady pottery created by our Skills Hub.
To be in with a chance of winning just answer the following question:
Q. What is the name of the smallest city in Wales?
Email your answer to: IaithGymraeg@sirgar.gov.uk by Friday, 6 March. We will contact the winner on Monday, 9 March.
Do the little things. Good luck!
