Multi-Factor Authentication - Secure Your Carmarthenshire Account and Data

We are taking extra steps to protect your account by adding additional steps to verify your identity.

The verification process is called authentication and is currently done with a username and password. Usernames can be discovered easily and a recent increase in phishing emails designed to steal passwords means that there is a high risk of your password getting into the wrong hands.

To help prevent cyber-criminals from obtaining your password and accessing your account we are enabling Multi Factor Authentication, or MFA.

In the coming weeks, ICT Services will be turning on Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for all users.

Multi Factor Authentication is more secure than just a password because it relies on two forms of authentication:

  • Something you know – your password.
  • Something you have - a mobile phone.

You can complete the sign-up process using your CCC e-mail address and password.

We recommend that you register with the Microsoft Authenticator app for the quickest, most secure experience.

By registering for MFA, you will also be able to reset your password in future by clicking on the “Reset Password” link at the Windows logon screen, or by visiting Microsoft Online Password Reset.

We have created a step-by-step guide to guide you through this process.
