The way we recycle in the workplace is changing

From 6 April 2024, it will become law for all businesses, charities and public sector organisations to sort their waste for recycling.

Under the new law the following materials will need to be separated for collection:

  • paper and card
  • glass
  • metal, plastic, and cartons
  • food – only for premises that produce more than 5kg of food waste a week

To ensure we comply with new Welsh Government legislation, you will start to notice a change in bin locations and the removal of some waste and recycling bins from later this month.

We will be replacing standalone bins across the workplace with designated recycling stations strategically placed throughout buildings, making it easier for you to dispose of your waste responsibly. Current bin locations will change and information at those locations will guide you to the new ‘recycling stations’. As we transition, keep an eye out for posters with updated details on the nearest recycling station locations.

It is everyone’s responsibility to put the correct waste in the correctly labelled bin. Putting all your waste into a single bin will not be allowed - you must sort your waste out properly.

Failure to comply with the law could mean a fine.
