Domestic Abuse – You are not alone
As a Council, we are supporting this year’s White Ribbon campaign, which started on Monday (November 25).
In last week’s newsletter, we talked about what you can do to show your support and get involved.
As an employer, we have zero tolerance for violence and abuse and understand that the responsibility for any type of abuse lies with the perpetrator. Our policy in relation to Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence can be found on our HR pages - this information can be accessed by all our staff, using any device.
If you are a victim or survivor of abuse, you are not alone. Our policy can help you and includes practical tips on safety planning, information about paid time off and how to access support counselling. It also has advice for managers about what to do if they are managing someone who is suffering abuse and advice for everyone on what to do if you are worried about a colleague or think they may need help.
There are also external organisations that can help you, and further information can be found on our Health and Wellbeing pages - this information can also be accessed by all our staff, using any device.
You can also complete the Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) e-learning module, which you can access via Thinqi. Please remember, we all have a legal duty to complete this module, which will:
- give you the basic knowledge of what violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence means
- help you to recognise domestic abuse and sexual violence
- direct you to the help available for victims.
