Health & Wellbeing Celebration Event

Mental Health First Aiders and Health and Wellbeing Champions play a vital role within the council by promoting a supportive, inclusive, and healthy workplace culture. These individuals are trained to recognise early signs of mental health issues, provide initial support, and guide colleagues towards appropriate professional help. Their presence helps reduce stigma around mental health and encourages open conversations, fostering a more resilient workforce. Wellbeing Champions complement this by supporting corporate initiatives, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, organising wellness activities, and encouraging a positive work-life balance.
On Wednesday 18th June, we celebrated the important contributions of these roles with a special event attended by a representative from West Wales Action for Mental Health and the Assistant Chief Executive, Paul Thomas. As Paul quoted “Today is about recognising all of you—and the work you do every day to promote wellbeing across the organisation. Together, you're helping to build a culture where people can thrive, and where health and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.” This recognition highlights the value we place on wellbeing across the council.
