Theme: “Mental health in humanitarian emergencies: Access to services”

World Mental Health Day, held annually on 10 October, is a time to reflect on the importance of mental well-being — not just in the workplace, but across all areas of life. This year’s theme, set by the World Health Organisation (WHO), is “Mental health in humanitarian emergencies: Access to services” — reminding us that during crises, such as conflict, natural disasters, or pandemics, the need for timely and effective mental health support is even greater.

However, mental health challenges affect people everywhere, every day — not just during emergencies. Anxiety, depression, stress, grief, or burnout can affect anyone, regardless of age, role, or background. While awareness is improving, stigma still prevents many from speaking up or seeking support.

Let’s Talk About It

Talking openly about mental health can be the first step to feeling better. Whether it’s a simple “how are you really doing?” or taking time to check in on yourself, small conversations can make a big difference.
