DoLS/LPS Briefing Session for Managing Authorities
Who is it aimed at?
Registered Care Home Managers and Deputies
What are the objectives?
The Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act has resulted in the planned replacement of DoLS by the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS). This session will address both systems
- It will provide guidance about the current local policies and procedures which need to be followed by registered managers when applying for a DoLS registration
- It will provide guidance on the completion of the relevant documentation under DoLS
- It will offer an update on the new Liberty Protection Safeguards and their implications for practice going forward
How will it make a difference?
This training will help ensure that Registered Care Home Managers and Deputies comply with the law and local arrangements relating to DoLS and understand the implications of LPS going forward.

How to apply:
If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.
If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.
Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.
Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council but meet the eligibility criteria to attend this course should complete this application form.
