Practice Workshop using a live case of working with Denial.

  • Addressing myths about working with denial / dispute in families.
  • The principles of resolutions work as outlines by Susie Essex & Andrew Turnel.
  • The process of resolutions work as outlined by Susie Essex’s work.
  • Relationships based questions to support the family to come up with their own solutions.
  • Danger statements, Safety Goals, Safety Scales – How do these fit into resolutions work.
  • The importance of safety networks and establishing them.
  • Planning with the family and their safety network to devise robust safety plans.

How will it make a difference?

Social Workers will have a better understanding of resolutions work and its origins. Social workers will feel more confident when working with families whereby denial and family disputes are a complicating factor.

How to apply:

If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.

If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.

Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.


Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council cannot apply for this course.
