Public consultations / engagement events

On the 19th April we held a public consultation event in Llangennech Community Centre. The Flood Defence and Coastal Protection Team have been working to develop a greater understanding of flood risk in Llangennech and to develop potential mitigation options. This event afforded us the opportunity to discuss local flooding issues with the community, and also table our initial options for the management of specific risks. The event was well attended with lots of useful discussion and debate. Attendees were asked to complete questionnaires relating to historical flooding events and provide feedback and ideas on potential flood risk management solutions. The collected data and information will be used to inform the next phase of the work.
27th April the FDCP team delivered another community engagement event in Kidwelly. This time members of the team went door to door in Clos Y Heleg, Llys Gwenllian, Ferry Road and Cae Ffynnon to discuss matters pertaining to flood risk and provide advice and guidance. Due to the number of organisations and agencies with a flood risk remit, feedback post the flooding in October 2021 highlighted that resident in Kidwelly were confused about who to contact and who is responsible when it come to matters of flood risk. As such the FDCP team produce contact cards for the residents that provides some clarity on this matter. We also used this opportunity to provide advice on property level protection, sand bag equivalent products, the new CCC sand bag policy and promote the investigation report that is available on our website at Formal Incident Investigation (gov.wales)
In total over 120 dwelling were visited and information provided.
