Staff Engagement Survey 2025 - Overall Results

The staff survey was conducted by the Council between 9 June and 18 July 2025. This annual survey is designed to measure how engaged our employees are with their work and workplace. By inviting our employees to answer questions over this period, we are able to gather valuable feedback about job satisfaction, workplace culture, and areas for improvement. The results help us to understand how employees feel about working at the Council, identifying what is working well, and what needs to change, so we can make informed decisions and take actions that support and improve the work environment.
This year 2,096 of you took the time to complete the survey and have a say. This equates to 25% of the Council’s workforce and is an increase of 450 people compared to last year’s survey.
The graph below shows how many people have taken the time to take part in the survey over the last four years – and it is pleasing to see that there has been an increase in participation over the last three years.

We asked you to respond to a series of statements by indicating your level of agreement on a rating scale from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree.
Below, you’ll find a summary of the overall results for 2025 plus a comparison with previous survey years. This year's results have also been ranked to clearly identify our areas of greatest strength as well as those requiring further development.
We’ve used a colour-coded system to make it easy to see how we did:
- Dark Green: Strongly Agree
- Light Green: Agree
- Amber: Neutral to Slight Agreement
- Red: Disagree
- Dark Red: Strongly Disagree
