Spring Photography Challenge

Spring is here, and we’re inviting you to capture the beauty of Carmarthenshire during this rejuvenating season. The aim of the challenge is to take a scenic photograph in the county while enjoying fresh air, exercise, and the blossoming beauty of spring between April 11 and April 25, 2025.

Prize:

The winning photograph will be featured as one of our thematic Teams backgrounds for all staff to use.

Please take a look at the guidelines below to help you capture your best shot.

Judging criteria:

1. The WOW factor – does the photo showcase the county in a positive light and showcase the place where you go as part of your wellbeing.  
2. Composition and skill of the photo.

 A few guidelines for taking pictures:

• A photograph has done its job if you can understand what the message is about just by looking at the picture.
• No people must be featured in the photograph.
• Everything in the picture should be relevant. Avoid cluttered backgrounds and try to avoid bright images that could be distracting.
• Look around you and consider items or wording on signage that could be used negatively.
• Try to avoid line ups and use different angles instead. A diagonal line-up will give a picture greater depth. Standing on a higher surface or kneeling can also provide better alternatives.
• Think about settings, lighting and timings – e.g., outdoor pictures in late afternoon during the winter will not work.
• Take a selection of photographs to give yourself a choice.
• Send photo in jpeg format

Make sure it is in jpeg form. All entries will be uploaded weekly to our intranet pages so staff can view them as they come in.
