Staff well-being message: Hot weather precautions
1 hour ago
Dear team,
With the current hot spell, I just wanted to send a quick reminder to everyone to look after yourselves and each other. Hot weather can make things tough, especially if you’re working outside or somewhere that doesn’t stay cool.
Here are a few simple things you can do to help stay comfortable and healthy:
- Keep hydrated: Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Try not to go overboard on caffeinated or sugary drinks, they can actually make you more dehydrated.
- Dress for the weather: Light, loose clothing is best. If you’re out in the sun, don’t forget your hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
- Take breaks: Find shade or a cooler spot when you need to, especially if you’re working in the heat.
- Work smart: If you can, try to do the more demanding jobs early or later in the day, when it’s not quite so hot.
- Look out for each other: Check in on your colleagues, especially anyone who might struggle in this weather, and chat to your manager if you’re worried about anything.
- Spot the signs: Watch out for symptoms like dizziness, heavy sweating, headaches, or feeling sick. If that happens to you or someone nearby, get help right away.
Your well-being is really important to us. Please read the heatwave guidance and keep these tips in mind, and if you need any extra help or support, just let your manager know. Thank you, as always, for everything you do.
Take care,
Wendy
