Managing Stress and Mental Health in the Workplace

What are the objectives?

To assist managers to reduce stress and mental health related sickness absence in their service areas, Carmarthenshire County Council have organised a programme of “Managing Stress and Mental Health in the Workplace” workshops. All managers are strongly encouraged to attend these workshops.

The key objectives of these workshops are to:

  • Improve your understanding of the triggers for stress - work and personal, and the impact they can have on staff and service delivery.
  • Provide you with the knowledge, tools and confidence required to enable you to identify, assess and manage the causes of stress in your service areas.
  • Provide you with the knowledge, tools and support required for you to be able to provide positive and effective support to staff with poor mental health.
  • Provide you with the knowledge, tools and support required for you to develop and maintain a working environment that facilitates and promotes positive staff wellbeing.

 

How will it make a difference?

Learning areas covered during these workshops include:

  • Defining work related stress and its causes and effects on individuals & teams
  • Undertaking stress risk assessments with teams and individuals
  • Effective stress management interventions
  • Monitoring the effects of stress management actions and interventions
  • How to recognise and support staff with poor mental health
  • Stress and mental health in the workplace case studies
