Who is it aimed at?

Managers with responsibility for recruiting staff.

What are the objectives?

By the end of the programme you should be able to:

1. Understand the process for recruitment at CCC

2. Understand the importance of accurate

  • Job title
  • Job description
  • Person specification
  • Job advert
  • Selection of the right panel

3. Integrate:

  • Equal opportunities
  • Welsh language

4. Be aware of the risks involved in getting the above wrong

5. Understand the consequences of a subconscious bias

6. Develop interviewing skills – questioning, listening

 

To meet these objectives the programme will cover the following:

  • What do I do when I have a vacancy
  • A practical approach to writing recruitment documentation threading through the whole day
  • The potential future employment problems of inaccurate documents
  • The potential risks of subconscious bias 

 

How will it make a difference?

This course will develop managers’ skills to ensure good practice in Recruitment and Selection. It is also a requirement of the Recruitment and Selection Policy for at least one member of the recruitment panel to be trained.

How to apply:

If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.

If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.

Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.


Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council cannot apply for this course.
