Safeguarding

Page updated: 06/08/2024

Safeguarding people is everybody’s business.

When abuse or neglect is identified, it should be dealt with swiftly, effectively and in ways that are proportionate to the concerns raised.

The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 offers a clear expectation that the child/young person/adult must be at the centre of any safeguarding response and remain as much in control of decision making as possible.

A new National Safeguarding Learning & Development Framework for Wales requires all staff employed (including volunteers) to complete relevant learning on Safeguarding.

All local authority staff as identified in Group A have to complete the Safeguarding Awareness e-learning in the links below as a mandatory element. Please see document attached for reference and definition of Group A.

All local authority staff have to complete - Safeguarding Group A

Further learning & development opportunities to implement the new Framework will be advertised on these pages.
