Risk Assessment and Management of People with Learning Disabilities at Risk of Committing Sexual Offences

Who is it aimed at?

Social work staff based in CTLDs and Transition Team

What are the objectives?

To develop participants’ knowledge and skills about undertaking risk assessments and producing management plans with people with learning disabilities who are at risk of committing sexual offences. The training will specifically look at the following:

  • Sex offender awareness
  • How sex offenders operate
  • Learning disabled sex offenders
  • Distinction between disinhibition and criminal behaviour and how to respond
  • Risk assessment
  • Community risk management
  • Good practice in professional self -care

How will it make a difference?

It will support social workers to practice effectively when working with learning disabled service users at risk of committing sexual offences

How to apply:

If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.

If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.

Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.


Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council cannot apply for this course.
