Suicide Intervention Skills

Who is it aimed at?

Social work staff based in CMHTS, spare places to be offered to social workers based in teams offering a service to adults.

What are the objectives?

This course aims to increase confidence when engaging with individuals who have thoughts of suicide, including developing safety plans. It specifically aims to address the following:

  • Engaging in discussion about thoughts of suicide.
  • Considering suicide risk and how to respond, drawing on evidence -based responses.
  • Evidence- based intervention skills, including the development of individual safety plans.
  • Self - care when supporting someone with thoughts of suicide.

How will it make a difference?

It will give participants the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to support them to respond appropriately to individuals who have thoughts of suicide.

How to apply:

If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.

If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.

Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.


Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council cannot apply for this course.
