Level 3 Certificate in Dementia Care

Who is it aimed at?

These qualifications are aimed at a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas across all service user groups and ages, working in statutory (including NHS), private and voluntary agencies. This would be suitable for anyone aged 16 or older, who have an interest in operating in a caring role for older people.

What are the objectives?

To achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Dementia Care learners must achieve 21 credits:

  • Mandatory (15 credits)
  • Optional (6 credits)

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but learners will need to be at least 16 years of age and working, volunteering or on a practical placement as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills. CRB must be in place.

All units are internally assessed. Assessment enables the learner’s workplace practice to provide evidence for individual units as well as the whole qualification. Methods of assessment could include:

  • Direct Observation Within the Workplace
  • A Portfolio of Evidence
  • Professional Discussion
  • Written Assignments or a Set Task

How will it make a difference?

Learners can progress to Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social (Adults).
