How will it make a difference?

We’re very excited to invite you to a session we are holding on 7th November 2023 at the library in Carmarthen.
Lunch will be provided between 1 and 2pm, followed by a session which shines a spotlight on colleagues working to increase the use of research and evidence in practice within Neath Port Talbot.
Guest speakers include:
Rachel Scourfield – Consultant Social Worker, Neath Port Talbot/NIHR Fellow
Julie Vile - Implementation Facilitator, National Institute for Excellence (Wales)
Emma Taylor-Hill – Knowledge Mobilisation Lead, Social Care Wales

To give you some context, Rachel and her colleagues have been awarded funding through the National Institute for Health Research for 12 months. This has enabled them to become Practice Research Leaders within Neath Port Talbot. Their remit is to support 3 pilot teams to increase their capability to access and use research in practice. Their approach has some very practical elements included and for example, they run case mapping sessions, which focus on complex cases. The aim of these is to support practitioners to explore research and use this to unpick some of the practice dilemmas and complexities within their cases.
Along with support and guidance from Julie, they have also been using and sharing their experiences of using the National Institute for Excellence guidelines. This has enabled them to improve collaborative working with colleagues from other disciplines and has enabled them to achieve better outcomes for people using services.
