Who is it aimed at?

All staff working with children and families

What are the objectives?

  • To facilitate discussion and address concerns about working with families who are partially compliant or deliberately mislead agencies
  • To consider lessons from practice, research, and Serious Case/Child Practice Reviews regarding the implications for work to safeguard children in these families
  • To gain further understanding of patterns of behaviour that indicate deception and risk
  • To increase ability to assess risk to children living in families where they may be hidden from professional view
  • To develop skills to identify and challenge deliberate avoidance and misrepresentation

How to apply:

If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.

If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.

Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.


Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council but meet the eligibility criteria to attend this course should complete this application form.
