Who is it aimed at?

Social Workers in Children Services.

What are the objectives?

Identify situations where their personal safety may be at risk

  • Personal online digital security
  • Appreciate how confrontation may be expressed through the use of body language
  • Recognise the signs and effects of alcohol, drugs/solvents and mental health issues exhibited by individuals
  • Use effective communication skills and positive body language to diffuse and manage confrontational situations
  • Safe escape/exit strategies when engaging with individuals
  • Know when and how to produce effective incident reports after being involved in a challenging situation

How will it make a difference?

Social Workers will be equipped with the skills and knowledge of how to keep themselves safe when working alone.

How to apply:

If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.

If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.

Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.


Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council cannot apply for this course.
