Who is it aimed at?
Social Workers in Children Services
What are the objectives?
Social Workers will:
- Gain an understanding of the grieving process and the current models that help
understand grief and bereavement. - Understand the impact of loss and bereavement on families.
- Considered, through our own understanding of the impact of loss, the ways we may assist individuals following bereavement.
- Considered skills relevant to their role and organisation which will improve how they communicate with bereaved people.
- Developed awareness of support organisations, and how and when to refer individuals for further support, including an understanding of the boundaries of our roles.
How will it make a difference?
This course will enable Social Workers to develop skills to aid them when supporting children and their families with loss and bereavement.

How to apply:
If you work for Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) and are logged into a CCC device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, complete this application form.
If you work for the Council but do NOT have access to a CCC device or an email address your line manager will need to apply on your behalf.
Council employees cannot apply for any courses from their own personal device.
Partners, agency staff or people who do not work for the Council cannot apply for this course.
