The Staff Forum gives the Chief Executive, Wendy Walters, an opportunity to meet staff face to face and learn about you and your role and the work you do. It also gives Wendy an opportunity to talk to you about her priorities for the Council.
If you have been invited to take part, please read some of the frequently asked questions below which may help answer any questions you may have.
This in-person Forum has been established to supplement the other mechanisms we have in place, to give staff a voice in the workplace.
The Staff Forum gives the Chief Executive, Wendy Walters, an opportunity to meet staff face to face and learn about you and your role and the work you do. It also gives Wendy an opportunity to talk to you about her priorities for the Council.
Forum meetings are held every quarter and staff are selected to take part on a random basis, we try to make sure that every meeting has a cross section of staff from across the Council.
The meetings normally last up to 1.5 hours, there is no set agenda and the discussion with the Chief Executive is informal, usually involving no more than 8 individuals.
Participants can contribute to the discussion in Welsh or English. As it is an informal meeting, no simultaneous translation is provided.
You will receive a written invitation to one of the Forum meetings – either by e-mail or letter. We try to make sure that you get your invitation at least a month before the Forum meeting, giving enough time for you and your manager to arrange cover if required.
Taking part is not compulsory, so if you have a prior commitment that means you are not available, all we ask is that you let us know as soon as possible, so that we can re-allocate your space to someone else.
It is important that you let your manager know you have been invited. They have been asked to support you, by ensuring you are free to take part.
We want this Forum to be an open and positive experience for everyone involved, and we want you to feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and views. This means that the discussions you have at the Forum will not be documented or shared outside the Forum, and what you say will not be attributed to you, unless you agree to it.
If, for any reason, we think that some follow up action would be useful because of what you have said, we won’t take any action until we agree this with you or other members of the Forum.
If taking part in the Forum means you incur travelling expenses, you can get these reimbursed where appropriate. Please refer to our Expenses page of the intranet for further information on how and when to make a claim, or you can speak to your manager.
If taking part in the Forum means you are working outside your normal working hours, we will pay you for your time. Further information can be found on the Pay section of our HR intranet pages.
