World Mental Health Day: Prioritising Mental Health Every Day
4 hours ago
Each year, World Mental Health Day reminds us of the importance of looking after our mental wellbeing and supporting those around us. While conversations about mental health have become more common, many people still face challenges that can impact their emotional wellbeing, both at work and at home.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Taking small steps to manage stress, connect with others, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and seek support when needed can make a significant difference. Equally, checking in with colleagues, offering a listening ear, and creating supportive workplaces helps build a culture where everyone feels valued and understood.
Looking After Your Wellbeing
Here are a few simple ways to support your mental health:
Take regular breaks throughout the working day.
Stay connected with colleagues, friends and family.
Be active and spend time outdoors where possible.
Prioritise sleep and healthy routines.
Talk about how you're feeling and seek support when needed.
Practise self-care and make time for activities you enjoy.
Support Available to Staff
Remember, support is available, and you do not need to face difficulties alone.
Occupational Health
The Occupational Health Service provides confidential support and advice to help staff manage health and wellbeing concerns.
Mental Health First Aiders
Our Mental Health First Aiders are trained volunteers who can offer a confidential, non-judgemental listening service and signpost colleagues to appropriate support.
Health & Wellbeing Champions
Our Health & Wellbeing Champions help promote wellbeing across the organisation, raise awareness of available support, and encourage positive health initiatives within teams.
Remember
Looking after your mental health is not something that should only happen on World Mental Health Day. Taking time to care for your wellbeing, reaching out for support, and supporting others are important all year round.
If you're struggling, please remember that help is available. A simple conversation can often be the first step towards feeling better.
