Mental Health First Aid
Page updated: 24/05/2023
The purpose of the Mental Health First Aid programme is to have a network of staff throughout the Authority trained to provide mental health first aid to a colleague in need. Our qualified Mental Health First Aiders are equipped to provide initial support to a colleague who is experiencing a mental health crisis or emotional distress. Mental Health First Aiders are trained to assess the situation, listen non-judgmentally and signpost the individual to appropriate support.
The opportunity to become a qualified Mental Health First Aider is open to all staff and is a voluntary role. Before deciding whether you might be interested in applying, please thoroughly read through the information on each of the pages below.
To apply to become a Mental Health First Aider, please fill in the online application form.
