Supporting councillors to serve our community councillor induction programme 2022

Dear Councillor
Congratulations on your success at the recent election and a warm welcome to all new and returning Councillors to Carmarthenshire County Council.
This induction programme marks the beginning of your journey and I want to reassure you that we are here to help you and guide you through the process. Over the next few months, we will work together to provide you with the training and support you need to undertake your role as County Councillors.
Those of you returning for another term may already be familiar with the induction programme and the training on offer, but I would encourage you to take up the opportunity to refresh and update your knowledge wherever you can.
75 of you have been elected to represent the 51 wards that make up Carmarthenshire and collectively you will make decisions that affect over 190,073 residents across its 939 square miles. During your term in office, we will work together to achieve the best for the residents of Carmarthenshire and to create stronger and more resilient communities.
As you look through this pack you will see that there is a lot for you to get through over the next few months, but this is a marathon and not a sprint. You have the resources, and the best workforce behind you, so feel reassured that you will be supported every step of the way. We have pulled together a comprehensive and tailored programme which will help you understand your role and its place within the functioning of Carmarthenshire County Council.
