How to prevent your laptop from over-heating
Page updated: 14/08/2024
Please be mindful that laptops can overheat, there are a few things you can do as a user to prevent this from happening:
- If your laptop is running updates, make sure the laptop is kept on and the lid open until the updates have installed, this should be done on a flat surface (table/desk).
- Never put your laptop back in your bag while running updates as this will overheat your laptop.
- Make sure the air vent is clear when working on your laptop.
- Always use your laptop on a flat surface (desk or table). Do not use your laptop on soft furnishing, clothing, or fabrics.
- Always switch your laptop off 'Shut Down' when placing back in your bag, or to 'Sleep' if you are going to use again shortly.
- Do not use or leave your laptop in direct sunlight or in direct heat.
- Make sure your laptop is kept clean from any dust, hair, food particles.
