Email usage and monitoring policy
The purpose of this document is to provide you with information on the effective and appropriate use of email.
Email usage refers to all use of our electronic mail facilities whether for internal or external communication. This policy governs our approach to managing our email facilities.
Information security policy
The main objective of this policy is to ensure that our assets, staff (permanent, temporary and contracted), elected members, data and equipment are adequately protected against any action that could have an adverse affect in relation to Information & Communications Technology (ICT) and the security of information.
This policy is applicable to all information we hold whether electronically or in paper format.
Internet usage and monitoring policy
The purpose of this document is to provide you with information on the effective and appropriate use of the Internet.
Internet use refers to the use of the internet from any of our computers and/or network. This policy governs our approach to managing the internet facilities ensuring the best interests of both the staff and the Council are upheld.
Portable device policy
This Policy defines accepted practices, responsibilities and procedures for the use of portable / mobile devices that we authorise to connect to our network.
A portable device is defined as any electronic device that has the ability to transmit, receive, record, process or store data. This functionality is increasing in a number of devices and could have one functionality or a combination of the following functionalities:
- Laptops
- Tablets e.g. Apple iPads, Lenovo Helix, Samsung Galaxy pads etc.
- Smartphone / Mobile Phone or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
- Digital recording device e.g. digital camera, audio recorded, mp3 player.
- Any other portable device, such as a satellite navigation system or a hybrid device that combines functionality.
This policy applies to all staff (permanent, temporary and contracted), elected members and any partners or third parties who access our data from one of our devices.
Copyright designs and patents act policy
This Policy defines our requirements to ensure that there are no breaches of the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988. For example, making sure that no software or copyrighted material other than that licensed by the Council is installed or shared on on any of our machines.
It applies to all staff (permanent, temporary and contracted), and elected members, vendors, business partners and contractor personnel, regardless of location.
Usage Policy for Public Access Computers
This Policy defines accepted practices, responsibilities and procedures for the use of computers provided for members of the public to use. Public access computers are located across the County in Council premises and provide members of the public with access to a Computer providing internet access.
