This section offers a range of programmes which will meet the learning needs of both social care and qualified social work staff. The training is intended to support staff with developing the core skills and knowledge required to effectively fulfil their roles. Please read the flyers thoroughly to ensure the training provided is appropriate to your role. All applications must be approved by your Manager before submission.
Alcohol & Screening
Staff from both the local authority and independent sector who offer support to service users experiencing alcohol issues.
Brain Development and Substance Misuse
All staff who may come into contact with young people who use drugs and alcohol.
Cannabis and Screening
Both local authority and independent sector staff whose roles involve supporting individuals who use cannabis.
Epilepsy and Rescue Medication
Social Care staff who work with and support those with Epilepsy
Infection Control
All social care staff working in any care setting including the independent sector.
Any staff assisting older people in their daily living in the community.
Introduction to Motivational Interviewing
All staff working in Children’s Services, including Fostering and Adoption, and Next Step teams.
IPED - Image & Performance Enhancing Drugs
All staff working with youths and adults who are using or thinking of using Steroids and Image Enhancing Drugs. This can include all health and social care practitioners, housing, domestic abuse, police, employment, training, education and leisure facility providers, who would like more knowledge around the culture and practices of this particular group of users.
Looking Beyond the Label
All staff who are supporting individuals with a learning disability.
Managing Risk and Expectation
All Children Services staff, Fostering and Adoption, TaF, Under 25s service, 3rd Sector and Independent Sector
Person Centred Care
New and or experienced social care staff in residential, nursing and domiciliary care services that require an understanding of person centred working.
Principles of Reporting and Recording
All Children Services staff, Fostering and Adoption, TaF, Under 25s service, 3rd Sector and Independent Sector. Also, Adult Services Domiciliary and Residential staff.
Report Writing and Case Recording
Social work staff based in Community Resource Teams will be given priority but applications will also be accepted from social work staff based in other teams which offer services to adults.
Sexual Offending in People with Learning Disabilities
Social work staff based in CTLDs and Transition Team
Solution Focused Approaches
All Childrens services staff, TAF and Families First projects, Residential Childcare services, Fostering and Adoption, 3rd Sector.
Substances 101
All staff in Children, Youth, Adult and Mental Health Services working with young people who are at risk of harm through substance misuse.
Tissue Viability (Pressure Care)
All social care staff in residential, nursing and domiciliary care services.
Understanding Autism– Autism Training for Health and Social Care Practitioners
HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE PRACTITIONERS - This course has been developed to support Health and Social Care professionals working with Autistic individuals (children and adults).
This course is relevant to you if:
- you work in a service where you may support autistic people and their families.
- you need to be aware of how to adapt your practice/communication to support autistic individuals (adults or children)
